HERNDON, VA., JUNE 16, 2026 – PointOne, LLC (PointOne Data Centers) today announced its intent to utilize fuel cell technology for behind-the-meter power generation at its proposed Remington Technology Park data center campus in Fauquier County, Virginia—enhancing the project's energy strategy and long-term sustainability profile.

Following extensive technical, operational, and environmental evaluation, as well as ongoing dialogue with local stakeholders and community members, PointOne determined that fuel cells can meet the campus's reliability requirements while delivering meaningful benefits compared to traditional power generation technologies. Fuel cells offer several advantages, including highly efficient energy production and lower noise levels than the originally proposed solution. The fuel cell system is being designed as a dedicated on-site generation resource for the campus, producing power directly at the facility to reduce reliance on grid-delivered electricity and help avoid shifting infrastructure or energy costs to local utility customers.
